NEPSE drops by 59 points, with hardly Rs 5 billion in daily transaction.
By the end of the trading session on Monday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index had dropped significantly by 59.02 points, or 2.28%. It had closed at 2,529.33 points.
Not only did the benchmark index have a fall, but the Sensitive Index, which measures Class 'A' stocks, saw a decline of 1.94%, and the Float Index, which represents shares that are actively traded, saw a decline of 2.26%.
Every sector had a decline at the end of the day, with the Finance sector suffering the worst losses with a 5.56% decline. The hotel and tourism sector fell 3.33%, while the trading sector fell 3.39% after that.
Just 14 firms had increases in their individual stock prices; 229 saw major declines, and one saw no change. The largest losers, with their share values falling by 10%, were four companies:
Goodwill Finance (GFCL), Samriddhi Finance Company Limited (SFCL), Eastern Hydropower Limited (EHPL), and NIC Asia Flexi Cap Fund (NICFC).
Just Rs 5.6 billion were moved during the day's trading, with 13,535,903 shares of 329 businesses exchanged in 77,153 transactions.
The entire market capitalization was Rs 4.021 trillion at the end of the day.
