Daily turnover rises to Rs 10.33 billion as NEPSE drops 50.73 points.
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) closed at 2,637.79 points on Sunday after plunging 50.73 points.
Within the first twenty-five minutes, the secondary market surged from 2,688.53 points at opening to 2,734.58 points. After thereafter, the index started to trend lower in the remaining hours, reaching its lowest position of the day—2,632.3 points—after trading was suspended for just three minutes longer. Before the market closed for the day, it had regained about five points.
The sensitive index, which calculates how well "A" class businesses are performing, dropped 7.81 points. On Thursday, the daily turnover rose from Rs 8.16 billion to Rs 10.33 billion.
Just 25 of the individual companies were listed as winners, while 217 were listed as losers.
During Sunday's intraday trade, all 13 groupings were reported as losers. The biggest fall, of 361.20 points, was in life insurance. The following industries lost three-digit points: non-life insurance, lodging and tourist, development banks, manufacturing and processing, and finance.
The company with the highest share turnover, CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited, was worth Rs 643.86 million. The biggest loser was Three Star Hydropower Limited. The largest percentage increase in market values, at 10%, was made by River Falls Power Limited, Himalayan Hydropower Limited, and Rawa Energy Development Limited.
