The rate of consumer inflation in the first two months of the current fiscal year is at 3.85%.
In the month of Bhadra, which falls between mid-August and mid-September of the current fiscal year 2024–2025, consumer inflation dropped to 3.85%.
The Nepal Rastra Bank said today in the Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal that there has been a noticeable decrease in inflation from the 8.19 percent registered during the review period in the previous fiscal year.
Throughout the evaluation period, the food and beverage inflation rate stayed at 5.03 percent. In the subsequent year, these groupings had far greater rates of inflation: 9.77 percent for the food and beverage group and 7.19 percent for the non-food category.
In the same way, the yearly price index for vegetables climbed by 9.84 percent, but for pulses and legumes it jumped by 10.80 percent under the food and beverage group.
According to the figures, food products increased by 9.30% and fruits by 4.94%. These were two other noteworthy increases. Conversely, the sub-group of spices' consumer price index has decreased to 2.69 percent.
Similar increases have been seen in the consumer price index for miscellaneous products and services in the non-food and service group, where the increases have been 8.71 percent, 6.76 percent for alcoholic beverages, 6.08 percent for apparel and footwear, and 4.88 percent for home appliances. The figure indicates that there were no adjustments in the price index for financial services and insurance, nonetheless.
In a similar vein, the rural consumer price index has risen during the review month. by 4.04 percent, compared to a 3.78 percent increase in urban areas.
Furthermore, it was stated that the inflation rate differed by province, with Koshi Province having the highest rate at 4.66 percent and Bagmati Province having the lowest at 3.29 percent. The consumer inflation rate in the Kathmandu Valley has decreased from 9.83 percent to 3.49 percent this year.
Additionally, from mid-August to mid-September this year, the annual wholesale inflation rate is 2.75 percent, compared to 4.78 percent during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
During the review month, the wholesale inflation rate for building materials dropped by 4.22%.
