During the fiscal year 2023–2024, herbs valued at around Rs 81 million were shipped from the Kakadbhitta customs checkpoint. Quarantine Office, Kakadbhitta, states that exports of plants such as chiraito, rittha, majitho, and satibayer were made.
During that time, 160 metric tonnes of chiraito valued Rs 48 million were shipped.
There are farmers in Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha, Dhankuta, and Bhojpur who grow chiraito for commercial purposes.
The Office states that 83 metric tonnes of majitho worth Rs 16.5 million, 151 metric tonnes of rittha worth Rs 9.69 million, and 24 metric tonnes of chutro worth Rs 1.2 million were exported during the preceding fiscal year.
