In anticipation of operating with dry notes this year, fresh notes won't be available on Dasain.
This year's Dasain will not involve the use of new notes. This year, just Sukila notes were introduced by Nepal Rastra Bank, which has been releasing new notes during the holiday season every year. Dr. Dilliram Pokharel, Assistant Spokesman for Nepal Rastra Bank, stated that the old Sukila notes will be swapped out but not the new ones.
Pokharel informed Nepali Paisa that new notes would not be given out on Dasain this time. For Dasain, the National Bank would provide dry notes to anyone in need." He claimed that by making this choice, he hopes to promote digital transactions and lower the expense of note printing.
He claimed that Sukila Note Bank, which was delivered to the market a year ago and returned, will make arrangements for people who require little and high denomination notes on Dasain. He stated, "The newly printed, extremely expensive notes get very dirty during Dasain and also have a shorter lifespan." We have therefore planned to distribute more dry notes on Dasain than fresh ones.
The Rastra Bank, which has been offering small denomination notes in the amounts of 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 for Dasain Tihar, will again provide this service. According to Rastra Bank, notes will be distributed this time approximately $18,500 per individual.
