We must align our actions with what foreign investors anticipate from us: The Governor
According to Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari, there needs to be alignment between our actions and what international investors anticipate from us.
During an event hosted by the Nepal Chartered Accountants Association, he made this statement.
There is law in place to protect investments, as far as we can tell. In addition, security has been implemented for our policy modification. But in reality, there are certain challenges," the person stated. "There is a problem with the way government work is done." Items such as 'clearing' are problematic.
According to him, given the recent legislative changes in our country, people may mistakenly regard this as a barrier, but this is untrue.
Additionally, he stated that Nepal will require 47 billion dollars by 2045 to reach carbon neutrality and lower environmental hazards, and that country will require 20 billion dollars a year to meet the sustainable objective by 2030.
However, he also made it clear that there is a significant need for outside resources because Nepal lacks sufficient domestic resources.
"There are a variety of financial instruments that bring in outside capital," he stated. Direct foreign investment is a major external resource source.
He claimed that in order to attract outside funding, the government set up an investment board ten years prior and introduced a foreign investment strategy.
A few days prior to the most recent investment conference, he also reminded everyone that the government was committed to attracting foreign investment and that it had changed a number of regulations to make them more business-friendly.
Arun Raut, the association president, stated during the presentation that policy reform is being worked on in Nepal.
He explained that although there is a healthy profit in Nepal, investors are seeking for an easy way out, therefore the initiative was set up to investigate what could be done better there.
Nil Bahadur Sarumgar, the association's vice president, claimed that as a result of certain of our policies, there is no climate for investment, there are issues with taxes, and it is challenging to pay dividends to foreign investors.
