23,583 metric tons of seeds were imported in July, the opening month of the current fiscal year. Imported goods include tomatoes, sunflowers, sugarcane, onions, and a variety of decorative flowers and vegetables as well as seeds from different food crops.
The customs administration claims that these agricultural goods' seeds were imported from Turkey, Korea, China, Pakistan, India, and other nations.
Farmers now seem to prefer imported hybrid seeds over seeds from Raithane. As a result, billions of agricultural produce seeds are imported each year.
Agricultural seeds worth 21 billion 77 million rupees were imported in just the previous year.
