Construction of the Chilime-Trishuli 220 kV transmission line is almost finished.

The last stage of the 220 kV transmission line construction between Chilime and Trishuli is now complete. This transmission line is thought to be crucial for connecting the hydroelectricity projects being developed along the Trishuli River corridor and its tributaries to the national grid. These projects are now under construction and will eventually be completed.

The 28-kilometer transmission line from the Chilime Hub Substation at Thambuchet of the Aama Chhodingmo rural municipality in Rasuwa to the Trishuli Three B Hub Substation at Pahirebensi of the Kispang rural municipality in the Nuwakot district is now undergoing final phase construction.

In order to finish the construction and get the transmission line operational before the Dashain festival, work is progressing.

Under the Chilime-Trishuli 220 kV Transmission Line Project, the construction of the 220/132/33 kV Chilime Hub and Trishuli Three B Hub substations is complete. Out of the 76 towers that make up the transmission line, 75 have already been built, and the last phase of installation work has begun on the remaining tower.

Just five kilometers of the 28-kilometer transmission line still need electrical cable installation. Two hundred laborers are engaged in the installation of the electrical lines and the tower.

On Saturday, a high-level delegation from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) monitored the construction on the ground. Included in the team were Executive Director Kulman Ghising and Deputy Executive Director of the Transmission Directorate, Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha. The construction deadline of October 12, 2024, has been set by the high-level team well in advance of the Dashain celebration.

In talks with the project management, consultant, and contractor company, the NEA high-level team urged them to not allow any delays in the construction work, to speed up the work by adding workers, and to proceed by creating a schedule for completing the remaining work by the deadline.

The team also conducted an inspection of the location where the power lines and the last tower are being installed.

This transmission line would receive power from the 110 MW Rasuwagadhi and 42.5 MW Sanjen hydroelectricity projects, which were created on the initiative of Chilime Hydroelectricity Company, an NEA subsidiary.

Both projects have completed their construction and are currently in the manufacturing phase. This is another reason why the NEA is under pressure to finish building the transmission line as soon as possible.
