Committee's determination to prevent leakages in order to reach revenue targets
The Central Revenue Leakage management Committee met and determined to expand tax-friendly services and revenue leakage management in order to reach the current fiscal year's revenue collection objective. Under the direction of Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, the heads of several agencies that are crucial to revenue collection, including Home Minister Ramesh Alekhar, met and decided to use revenue collection as a key performance indicator for staff members and security personnel assigned to revenue administration.
In a similar vein, the gathering resolved to establish a central fast patrol squad and deploy it from east to west in order to curb revenue leakage. The decision has been made to put into effect a methodical action plan pertaining to income leakage management, with caution to avoid hurting taxpayers who have conducted business legally while simultaneously refusing to provide an exemption to those who participate in illicit financial activity.
In order to prevent revenue leakage, the meeting also resolved to establish efficient coordination between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Home Affairs's numerous agencies.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel stated during the meeting that no one who leaks revenue will be exempted and that they have been instructed to post staff members and police officers associated with the revenue administration in order to break any unexpected relationships that may arise from long-term employment of the same individual in the same position and with the same responsibilities.
Finance Minister Paudel issued directives to increase the effectiveness of surveillance by utilizing scanners at border crossings and other contemporary technology; to realistically classify and assess imported goods; to promote the act of taking bills in the market; and to ruthlessly look into any potential revenue leakage caused by the establishment of fictitious bills or businesses. Giving them instructions to carry out their duties with honesty and resolve, he conveyed his conviction that the security and revenue administration processes would henceforth be of a higher caliber.
In order to prevent revenue leakage, officials from the National Investigation Department, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Finance Secretary, Revenue Secretary, Director General of Internal Revenue Department, Director General of Customs Department, Director General of Revenue Investigation Department, and other departments met and exchanged information more efficiently. He reaffirmed his intention to proceed in a coordinated manner.
