A calamity costs the public tansport sector Rs 730 million in damages.
The country's public transportation system has suffered damages totaling Rs 730 million as a result of the unceasing rain that fell on September 27 and 28, primarily in the central and eastern regions.
Based on data provided by National Federation Transport Entrepreneurs Nepal, the estimated damage amounts to around Rs. 729.80 million.
Among the losses were Rs. 118 million for Western Nepal Passenger Bus Entrepreneurs Pvt. Ltd., Rs. 28.5 million for Namaste Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs Pvt. Ltd., and Rs. 6 million for Gorkha Daraundi Transport Service Company.
Similar losses were experienced by the Bagmati Tipper Traders' Association (Rs. 270 million), the Nepal Truck Tipper Traders' Association (Rs. 200 million), the Mahakali Multi-Purpose Company Pvt. Ltd. (Rs. 66.5 million), and the Rasuwagadi border point (Rs. 40 million worth of property damage).
Deknath Gautam, the general secretary of the Federation, announced on Wednesday that the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Transport Management had received the information of the harm done by the nation's public transportation system.
