Vice-President of NICCI speaks at BIMSTEC Plus conference
On September 12, the Synergia Foundation, in partnership with Nalanda University in Bihar, India, arranged the Bodhgaya-Nalanda ConferenceāBIMSTEC Plus, in which the Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NICCI) took part.
Attending the three-day event on behalf of the Nepali delegation was Sunil KC, vice-president of NICCI.
Speaking during the event session titled "Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Plus: Shared Cultural Values and Futures," KC emphasized the significance of cultural and economic cooperation among BIMSTEC nations.
He emphasized the ways in which the BIMSTEC connects South and Southeast Asia, creating a strong bond based on shared cultural and economic principles.
KC emphasized the significance of culture for regional development, pointing out that economic cooperation may be sparked by a shared cultural legacy, especially in fields like tourism, education, and the creative industries. In order to leverage the region's unique cultural diversity and strengthen local economies, he advocated for increased cooperation in the promotion of tourism.
The aim of "BIMSTEC Plus" was deliberated during the conference, which aimed to broaden economic corridors, tackle global issues including digital innovation, climate change, and economic resilience, and expand partnerships beyond the area.
